I visit masajid and Islamic schools in the Greater Sacramento Area and parts of the Bay Area for book readings and related activities for kids up to 10 years old.
The duration of these events is typically no longer than 1.5 hours. The intended age range is 4-10, but younger children have attended previously. I bring coloring sheets (sometimes they just run around and that’s okay as long as everyone else can enjoy the reading).
Example schedule:
- Read-aloud
- Discussion: lessons from the book, concept of knowing one’s worth, importance of learning about the Companions (RA) and how we are all connected to history
- Positive affirmations and fighting off negative thoughts
- Timeline activity
- Name Bingo, a game designed to get children thinking about the things that make their names unique and special
- Paper lantern craft
- Coloring
I provide the supplies for the activities. I charge a travel fee based on the distance of travel.
- Within 20 mi (one-way), no charge
- 21-49 mi, $100
- 50-75 mi, $200
- Over 75 miles, case by case basis
